The Chenese Lewis Show Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary!

March 2018 marks the 10-year anniversary of The Chenese Lewis Show! Over the last 10 years, the podcast has served as an oral history of the plus size community, with extensive interviews documenting the rise to fame of many of the plus industries top stars including Ashley Graham, Tess Holiday, Ashley Nell Tipton, Gabi Gregg, and many more. Ebony.com listed Chenese as a “Plus Fashion Power Player On The Rise” and stated, “The Chenese Lewis Show is an important voice in plus size fashion, providing a platform and outlet for those who are making moves within the community.”

The launches of the most prestigious events in the plus community were documented with interviews on The Chenese Lewis Show! In 2009 Gwen Devoe appeared on the show to discuss the launch of Full Figured Fashion Week, in 2015 two powerhouse bloggers Chastity Garner and Cece Olisa appeared together to discuss the launch of The Curvy Con, and that same year Marie Denee appeared on the show to talk about the launch of two events, TCFSwim and TCFStyle Expo!

Major brands have used the platform to announce news to the plus community. Mia Tyler appeared as the spokesperson for the launch of Forever21‘s new plus size clothing line, initially called Faith21. Becky Meza, formerly of Torrid‘s marketing team, made a major announcement about the launch of the brands expansion to Puerto Rico! Lane Bryant Marketing Specialist Heather McGarry announced the winner of the Lane Bryant model search, who won a trip to Las Vegas to be in the Lane Bryant fashion show!

With so many memorable episodes of the podcast over the last decade, it’s hard to narrow them down. One of the most talked about episodes is PETA Versus The Plus Size Community, where Chenese went one-on-one with PETA senior campaigner Ashley Byrne about the animal-rights organization’s “Save the Whale” campaign that had the plus-size community outraged. Another memorable episode was an intimate interview with supermodel Crystal Renn. She had recently been named the new face of Jimmy Choo and referred to herself as a “plus size straight size model” as a size 8. The interview went viral as outlets such as Jezebel and NY Daily News called her out for her comment in the interview, stating her comp card with Ford had her listed as a size 2! Another unforgettable moment, the entire cast of Curvy Girls appeared on the show together including Denise Bidot, Rosie Mercado, Ivory May Kalber, and LornaLitz Baez to promote the premiere of their new reality show on Nuvo TV!

The Chenese Lewis Show also crossed over to mainstream media. Chenese was accepted to participate on Radio Row for the Essence Music Festival, one of the largest consumer live events in the U.S., with more than 550,000 attendees. For five years she participated as press on Radio Row interviewing mainstream celebrities during the festivities including Chilli from TLC, Boyz II Men, Gladys Knight, Tina Knowles, Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama, and a host of others.

The podcast still relevant to the industry after ten years continues to feature the brightest stars, the most recent interview with supermodel Liris Cross who made history on Project Runway by winning the modeling competition and being one of the first plus-size models to appear on the show. The Chenese Lewis Show has unmatched quality content for its niche market, making it a stand out platform for not only plus size women, but for all.
